The dolls are capable of understanding and expressing human feelings and emotions to a certain degree and are that for different to AI based robots. Originally developed by the military 2034 their skin resembles human skin by touch, the material has an organic feel, is stretchy and extremely durable.
I made a base model of the scene in 3ds max and created an overpaint in Photoshop.

The Kamikakushi (term loosely meaning "unexplained disappearance") Festival is about to begin!
64 Podrider with lanterns are on the way to their positions.
Each of them has a unique position they have to take in order to form a magic symbol altogether... The lanterns will be ignited at midnight exactly! 10 -12 fireworks are illuminating the city streets, they symbolize the souls from the dead on the way to heaven...
Most people are not using electric light during the ceremony, maybe because of superstition or simply for the joy of the moment.
Here are some details

The March of the Queen - Dark side war

Please click on the Image to see the larger version, it looks horrible in small.

The great war of Dulbin is about to start, you see the pride, dark Queen looking forward to her victory.

I did choose a wide format. This image supposed to show the great match, but actually shortly before it starts. The Image is devided in 2 parts, the bright empty left and the dark crowded right, you just wait for the right side to fill the left, to start the march. The cam is showing the queen, but not centered, so she does not take away attention from the rest. She just need to raise her hand and the crowds would move.
I did not design the queen in special sparling cloths with a crown, for me it was more important to show that she is the boss with her look, pose, aura.
What i wanted to show is not a brute force, but some bit of story packed inside and some atmosphere.

Sketch and roung colouring done in OC1, finished in Photoshop 5,5 and Painter 7 in about 40 hours.
Had fun painting it.
